Highly acclaimed one-woman theatre show.
This lively and affectionate play remembers Richmal Crompton, who wrote the well-loved William books... and much more. She created her worst behaved, best-loved hero during the First World War, and was still writing about him as space-rockets circled the earth. A Suffragist, Classics mistress, and member of London literary society, she was also crippled with polio. Her amusing and touching story - and that of her outrageous and eccentric family who were the inspiration for many of her comic characters, spans the fascinating and fast-changing years of the twentieth century.
The play was adapted and broadcast by BBC RAdio 4 in 2001.
"Simply a masterpiece of theatre. An outstanding play... the quality of the writing and acting are second to none." BORDON HERALD
"You don't even need to have read a William book to enjoy two hours in the company of this mesmerically gifted actress" SOUTHEND EVENING ECHO
"Just brilliant" LEICESTER MERCURY "Just wonderful" WARMINSTER JOURNAL "Just perfect" BORDON HERALD
